The sponsoring body of AD&FD POHL Leung Sing Tak College is The Association of the Directors & Former Directors <br>of Pok Oi Hospital Limited and is a non-religious school. Orientation Activities and Healthy Living
Our school has arranged a variety of activities for students as well as their parents to have a better understanding of our school and its environment.
1. A seminar about the operation of our school was held for Secondary 1 parents.
2. A diagnosis test on Chinese, English and Mathematics was conducted to allow us to adjust teaching strategies.
3. A Bridging Course and Marching Training was arranged for Secondary 1 students to accustom to the requirements and pedagogy of our school.
4. A life camp for newcomers was organized to let students get to know each other and raise their sense of belonging.
5. Secondary 1 and Secondary 2 students must stay in school for their lunch, and a wide range of after-lunch activities will be provided to fulfill their developmental needs.

School Management Organisation:
Incorporated Management Committee-The School Supervisor-The Principal-Administrative Committee-Subject Chairpersons-teachers. IMC sets the school's directions and supervises school's operations while the Principal leads the daily affairs of the school. Vice Principals and subject Chairpersons help with coordination.

The incorporated Management Committee of our school was established in 2007. It is formed by representatives of school sponsoring bodies, Principal, teachers, parents, Alumni and an independent person.
School Green Policy:
Our school is located next to Shing Mun Valley. With such a tranquil environment full of fresh air, we educate our students to practice conserving the environment by turning on the air-conditioners only when the temperature reaches 27℃ or 26℃ with the humidity level of 90% or above. In response to the Municipal Solid Waste Charging policy, we implement waste separation in our school campus in order to promote environmental protection.

Learning and Teaching Plan
Whole-school Language Policy:
Our school places great emphasis on Bi-literacy and Tri-lingualism. S.1 - S.3 Mathematics, Integrated Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology are taught in English, as a strategy of English Enhancement. One class in each form of junior secondary has Chinese Language taught in Putonghua. For S.4 and above, the M.O.I. is either Chinese or English, contingent on students' ability and wish. Small class teaching is adopted according to students’ needs and ability in order to increase the interaction between students and teachers. Gifted students have to attend Elite Class to further raise their English standard. Owing to the change of the Medium of Instruction, we arranged English Bridging Course for Secondary 1 students in Summer holiday. To promote and strengthen English speaking in school, a native English teacher (NET) is employed and an English Cafe is set up. Our school has joined Overseas Exchange Programme organized by AFS International Exchanges. One foreign student is arranged to study in our school every year. Also, students are exposed to more opportunities to enhance their English by joining Best English Speaker Award Scheme, English Day, English Fun Fair and delivering English speeches in morning assembly.

Our school encourages whole-person development and helps students develop their potentials. Every year, each subject sets the teaching plan, tailors and revises the curriculum based on students' ability. 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Senior-form students may select two to three elective subjects, joint-schools program and Applied learning subjects.
2. Curriculum highlights: S.1 - S.3 Mathematics, Integrated Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology are taught in English; streaming; small-class teaching for slow learners. Senior form students have to take 4 core subjects together with 11 elective subjects and extended part II of Mathematics for students to choose and some subjects have both Chinese and English as the Medium of Instruction. Development of the Four Key Tasks:
We place emphasize on moral education, so moral messages are conveyed to students in assembly. In line with it, teachers of Citizenship and Social Development subject try to cultivate students to become informed and responsible citizen with a sense of national identity and global perspective. Our school has Morning Reading Scheme for students to share reading experiences with their classmates. To encourage reading, school library organizes activities such as reading award scheme, book report competition and rewriting stories competition. Secondary 1 students will attend library lessons to enhance their skill of information searching. Each subject requires students to do project learning depending on the needs of the classes to develop students' generic skills. All classrooms have equipped with a computer, interactive electronic whiteboard and wireless network for teachers to conduct electronic teaching effectively. At the same time, our school has adopted e-learning system, teaching and learning can be conducted through Intranet. This year, e-learning is conducted in all subjects in order to strengthen interactive teaching and learning. In order to cultivate students' ability of "learning to learn", our school promotes self regulated learning(SRL). By arranging a SRL lesson for Secondary 1 and 2 students, we provide space for students to undergo self-learning and establish students' self-learning habits.

Student Support
Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity:
Streaming; small-class teaching in Chinese, English and Mathematics; after-school enrichment and remedial courses; after-school tutorial classes for S.5 to S.6 to strengthen their capacity to cope with exams so as to raise academic achievement. The school advocates whole-school participation so the discipline and counseling teams cooperate together in nurturing students' overall development. We also aim to create a caring and harmonious campus culture and help students establish good relationships between: student-student and teacher-student respectively. With the policy of allocating two class teachers to each class, we hope to provide better caring for our students.
Whole School Approach to Integrated Education:
Our student support team includes Special Educational Needs Coordinator and Special Educational Needs Support Teachers. SENCO leads the student support team and assists the school principal and the vice-principals in planning, coordinating and implementing the Whole School Approach to Integrated Education in order to further cultivate an inclusive school culture and enhance the effectiveness of the support given to students with special educational needs. We arrange SEN support teachers to take responsibilities for teaching and co-teaching those students which have different educational needs. We also help to design teaching materials to facilitate learning for students. We assist students with special educational needs by the measures including the adjustment in teaching and assessments, peer counselling, social skills training workshops and speech therapy etc. We arrange regular meetings with class teachers, latest update and close communication between class teachers and parents and home-school cooperation to cater for students' diverse needs. Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment:
There are two uniform tests and exams each year. Students' overall academic performance is assessed through daily marks, uniform tests and examinations. Daily marks comprise assignments, quizzes and performance in lessons. We stipulate that each uniform test or exam paper consists of 30% high-order thinking questions.

Home-School Co-operation:
In the past years, parents have worked closely with the school. Since 2005, parent has been a member of the IMC, assisting with the policy formulation and management of the school. Parents' active participation has been a propelling and supporting force of school improvement.

We value a pragmatic and simple school ethos, nurturing students to become morally and culturally sound youth. Through discipline, counseling, moral, civic and health education provisions, we develop our students' self-discipline, positive attitudes and values. We place much emphasis on after-school support for students in need to ensure top priority be given to their academic and personality development. School Development Plan:
Our school continues to place emphasis on strengthening moral education and intellectual development while catering for students' needs and self-development. We also aim to help students maximize their potential. The school's approach is to promote gifted children and cater for student diversity, so we adopt methods to enhance the intellectual potential of the more capable students and catering for wide learning diversity. A information system has been set up to record personal information, interests, strengths and achievement of individuals for the purpose of encouraging continuous learning among students.
Teacher Professional Training and Development:
Teachers in our school practise mutual respect and support. They cooperate with each other and jointly work for students. The school encourages teachers to further study in languages, their own subjects and teaching methodology, so as to serve as role models of lifelong learning for students. It also provides appropriate professional support for teachers in need to enhance their teaching effectiveness, professional ethics and quality.
Life-wide Learning (including Five Essential Learning Experiences to be provided through Key Learning Areas, extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities, etc.):
There are about 40 co-curricular clubs and societies are set up to offer various activities for students to develop their potential ability in academic, physical, aesthetic and social aspects and lead to whole-person development. Our Athletics Team have enjoyed great renown of being the Champion in boys team for 23 years continuously in Tsuen Wan and Outlying Islands District and our girls team also won the championship for 18 years in Tsuen Wan and Outlying Islands District. In the inter-school cross country competition, our boys won the overall championship and our girls won the first runner-up prize. Our Chinese Orchestra has won the second runner-up prize in the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows. Every year, many of our students have outstanding performance in various competitions held by the Hong Kong Schools and Music Festival Association.

We aim at serving students of average attainment. With sincere caring and professional teaching, our students mostly could make an obvious progress in learning and graduate with remarkable results. In 2022 DSE, the overall passing rate of our school is 94%, which is higher than that of Hong Kong’s overall passing rate, 87%. The passing rate of 18 subjects, out of 16 subjects, is higher than that of Hong Kong’s average. For Biology, Mathematics Extended Part Module 2, Chinese Literature, BAFS, Geography, ICT, Physical Education and Japanese Language the passing rate is 100%.
The Jupas offer rate is 36%. Including the Jupas and non-Jupas offer, 83% of our students could further their studies in tertiary institutions. In the past few years, our students attained outstanding results, with two subjects at 5** Level and 3 subjects at 5* Level, in the HKDSE. Two of our graduates attained 8As in HKCEE and one attainted 4As in HKALE before.
"Life Planning Education"
Preparing students for life planning, our school works hand in hand with different organizations including YMCA, Hong Kong Family Welfare Society, HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre, as well as Employees Retraining Board to assist Form 1 to 6 students in strengthening their self-awareness based on different themes. Moreover, it helps cultivate their good character for contributing to society in future.
